Description

This posting will be used to fill one (1) permanent full-time position working 75 hours biweekly at two of the long-term facilities. This competition will also be used to fill one (1) term position from May 19, 2026, to January 1, 2027, working 75 hours biweekly. This competition will be used to establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill anticipatory full-time and part-time permanent, term, AOC and casual vacancies.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Our team

Long-Term Care (LTC) provides resident-centered care to individuals who require assistance with various levels of daily living activities. LTC aims to create a sense of belonging and a home-like environment for all residents in Yukon Continuing Care homes by responding to the unique needs of each individual. The services range from intermediate care to end-of-life care (Hospice), focusing on the comfort, care, and quality of life for individuals with serious illnesses approaching the end of life.

Your role

We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide clinical care services for clients who require therapy services in the Long-Term Care. The Physiotherapist is responsible for providing professional physiotherapy services including: resident assessment, treatment/interventions, development of comprehensive care plans for individuals of all ages with a broad range of physical and psycho-social disabilities to enhance, maintain or restore each client's ability to function at an optimal level in all chosen roles. The Physiotherapist will work to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect and work collaboratively with other health care professionals and community partners.

    Essential qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physiotherapy
  • Recent experience as a Physiotherapist, providing assessment and treatment

  • Strong assessment skills
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate individual programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict management and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and provide leadership for support staff
  • Ability to work both independently and with an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a diverse caseload
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, with an emphasis on Yukon First Nation's culture
  • Experience working in a community setting is an asset

    Conditions of employment 

    You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB screening
  • WHMIS 2015
  • CPR Level C with AED (completed within last 30 months)
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • A valid & current license to practice physiotherapy in the Yukon obtained through The Professional Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Branch (Community Services)
