About
Harbour Veterinary Clinic, a charity-run veterinary organization. Our mission is to increase access to essential veterinary care for cats and dogs (owned, rescued, and community (TNR)) by providing high-quality, affordable services. We are seeking a dedicated Veterinarian to join our team and support our clinic's wellness/dental services.
About the Role
This position combines scheduled shifts in our wellness/dental clinic (three days a week) with participation in our high-volume spay and neuter (HQHVSN) program (one day per week).
We offer a four-day work week (10-hour days) to promote work–life balance, providing a three-day weekend each week. We welcome applicants seeking full-time positions as well as those interested in part-time.
We are currently seeking someone available for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday shifts.
About Harbour Veterinary Clinic
Harbour Veterinary Clinic serves a diverse range of clients, including low-income pet owners seeking financial support as well as general clientele who choose us because they align with our mission. Our services operate through two main streams:
- High-Volume, Low-Cost Surgery Program
- Wellness & Dental Program
This role focuses primarily on the wellness and sick-pet appointments, with opportunities to perform dental procedures starting in 2026. You will also receive mentorship and hands-on training from our experienced HQHVSN veterinarian, who provides one training day per week for those seeking to build surgical proficiency.
The ideal candidate brings excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset that supports a positive, mission-driven team culture. The ideal candidate understands and is comfortable working within a spectrum-of-care model. A significant portion of our clientele face financial barriers and may decline recommended diagnostics or treatments; the successful veterinarian is able to provide compassionate, ethical care while adapting medical plans to client circumstances.
As a high-volume, low-cost clinic, this role requires a veterinarian who can work confidently and independently, manage a fast-paced day, and maintain efficiency without compromising patient welfare. The veterinarian must be comfortable operating with strong clinical judgment, excellent time management, and the ability to move cases forward effectively with the support of a dedicated, experienced team.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance
- Continuing Education allowance and access to conferences/seminars
- Mentorship from an experienced HQHVSN veterinarian
- Digital X-ray, in-house lab, and dental radiography (coming 2026)
- Four-day work week with paid time off
- Opportunity to shape clinic protocols and contribute to a meaningful community mission
Qualifications
- DVM degree and eligibility for a Private Practice license with the CVBC
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to compassionate, accessible, high-quality veterinary care
- Comfort performing spay/neuter surgeries, including pregnancy spays
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume setting
- Shelter Medicine Experience is an asset
Why Join Us?
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated veterinarian who wants to grow their skills, contribute to a progressive and community-focused clinic, and help build a program that will make a lasting impact.
If you are passionate about accessible veterinary care and excited to help shape a new, innovative service model, we encourage you to apply.
