A dynamic Shipping Clerk position is available in Washington, D.C. Our company is looking for a meticulous and organized individual to manage the outbound flow of goods. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing shipments, coordinating with shipping carriers, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining records of all outgoing packages. This role is vital for ensuring timely and accurate delivery to our clients, making it a key component of our logistics network. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is expected. Safety is of utmost importance, and all employees must strictly adhere to safety regulations and the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The role involves physical tasks, including handling packages and requires regular lifting.
Responsibilities:
- Process outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Verify order details against shipping manifests.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers.
- Ensure packages are correctly labeled and packaged for transit.
- Maintain shipping logs and update tracking information.
- Communicate shipping updates to relevant departments.
- Comply with all safety policies and the correct use of PPE.
- Handle packages and perform duties involving lifting up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and common office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and carrier services.
