Department: Department of Art and Design Location: Parkside Salary: £44,131 to £51,182 per annum Fixed Term Post Type: Full Time Release Date: 22 December 2025 Closing Date: 11 January 2026 23:59 GMT Reference: ARTS25009 Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study right in the heart of the city, and we are currently seeking Lecturers to teach on our BA (Hons) Digital Marketing. The role will suit those with industry and education experience looking to advance their career, while working on an exciting, ever relevant and up-to-date course. BA (Hons) Digital Marketing sits within the Department of Art & Design and pursues a creative approach to digital marketing, with an emphasis on creative strategy. These roles would suit applicants with backgrounds in creative strategy as much as traditional digital marketers. This role would attract those who are adept at using and building practical methodologies, understand brand positioning, campaigns, product, social all with strategic vision. You will be responsible for designing and delivering workshop-based lectures, utilising your industry experience, working as part of an enthusiastic team, taking ownership of modules, developing pastoral relationships with students, drawing from your pre-existing industry network to develop live briefs and industry mentors, as well as seeking opportunities to enhance the course’s industry connections. We are looking for two creative, committed and enthusiastic individuals who can contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of our course. Experience in module leadership, curriculum design, and working with diverse student cohorts, including international students, is highly desirable. Additionally, industry experience that shows an understanding of audience behaviours, emerging trends/movements is desirable, as well as contemporary digital strategy, SEO, and use of analytics. A commitment to high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and student support is essential. Fellowship of Advance HE is also desirable (or a willingness to achieve it within an agreed timeframe). Responsibilities
You should be able to demonstrate expertise in areas such as:
digital strategy social media marketing content development SEO/SEM campaign planning Use of analytics to inform marketing decisions Excellent contemporary research skills
Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops in Digital Marketing. Lead modules and provide academic tutoring, mentoring, and career guidance to students. Supervise student projects and dissertations, supporting practical and research-based learning. Develop and enhance programme content, ensuring alignment with current industry trends and academic standards. Participate in recruitment initiatives, open days, and outreach. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching quality and curriculum innovation. Requirements
Proven ability to teach modules on social media strategy (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), e-commerce platforms, CRM and email marketing, content creation, and CMS tools. Experience in curriculum design, student supervision, and assessment. Awareness of emerging trends including AI, sustainability, metaverse, and influencer marketing. Challenge conventions, build and teach methodologies, acute understanding of the role culture plays in branding, and brands play in culture. Combine strategic awareness with being culturally attuned.
