Job Summary The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components for various projects. The role involves creating detailed electrical schematics, selecting components, ensuring designs meet regulatory standards, and collaborating with cross–functional teams to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development:
Create and develop electrical designs and schematics using CAD software (e.g., Solidworks Electrical, EPLAN).
Component Selection:
Select appropriate electrical components such as relays, switches, transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices.
Prototyping and Testing:
Build and test prototypes to validate designs, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
Documentation:
Produce and maintain detailed electrical drawings, technical documentation, and bill of materials (BOM).
Compliance:
Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC, UL, IEEE).
Project Collaboration:
Work closely with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate electrical designs into larger systems.
Troubleshooting:
Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving electrical design issues during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
Cost Optimization:
Evaluate design options to ensure cost–effective solutions without compromising quality and performance.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field.
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in electrical design engineering or a related role.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, circuit design, and electrical theory.
Experience with PLCs, control systems, and industrial automation is a plus.
Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem–solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Good organisational and time–management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent.
Experience with 3D modeling software.
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel occasionally for site visits, testing, or client meetings.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high–quality work.
