About Us AmcoGiffen delivers maintenance frameworks and capital delivery, and complex civil engineering across the UK, including bridge reconstruction, environmental infrastructure, highways, tunnels, station works, lineside civils and utility installations. Our clients include Local Authorities, Network Rail, energy companies and environmental organisations.

Key Responsibilities
Design Oversight – monitor and oversee design progress against schedule and budget, implementing corrective measures.
Change Management – review, negotiate, and recommend approval or disapproval of design change orders, ensuring scope compliance.
Liaison and Reporting – establish formal communication and provide progress reports to Design, Business Development, Estimating, Planning, Operations and Commercial teams.
Subcontract Administration – manage design subcontractors, process invoices, and coordinate incentive/disincentive programmes.
Design Submission Coordination – ensure timely and accurate submission of design documents for owner approval and resolve design issues.
Risk Identification – document necessary change orders and early warning information.
Constructability Reviews – collaborate on constructability, value engineering, and contractor preferences.
Continuous Improvement – promote best practices in design coordination.
Project Close-Out Support – assist in project handback to ensure a smooth close-out.
Qualifications
Degree in rail or civil engineering or related discipline.
Membership of an Engineering Institution with Chartered Engineer status (or nearing this status).
Prior experience as a Design Coordinator within a rail contracting environment, especially in civil engineering.
Comprehensive understanding of design delivery processes and management of design consultants.
Commercial acumen – strong grasp of contractual and commercial engagement with design consultancies.
Regulatory knowledge – familiarity with CDM regulations and roles of designers and principal contractors.
