Role Overview Digital is changing the way we deliver and over the coming years will help the Water industry achieve AMP8 delivery targets. Emerging technologies such as Generative Design, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins and advanced analytics will change at pace and will play a significant role transforming our industry to deliver more sustainable, high quality outcomes. We are supporting our clients who are pushing the boundaries of technology to increase productivity and deliver real efficiencies throughout the asset lifecycle including operations, strategy, planning, design, procurement and build stages of their programmes.
The Digital Solutions Engineer will play a crucial role in driving digital transformation and innovation within our team. This position will support the continued development of our computational design capability within the team. You will help identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, recommending and integrating digital tools, and ensuring alignment with team and business goals. You will be expected to challenge our teams’ approach to how they work, and support them to adopt and embed digital tools into their work as we deliver projects at pace. You will help our teams to improve the integration between the software packages they use, improving efficiency in delivery. This role will support solution development, provide technical support, facilitate training and documentation, and foster a culture of innovation. You will work across our Asset Design and Sustainable Water Management teams to evolve how we design solutions for flooding, wastewater treatment and potable water mains design.
Responsibilities
Develop and apply computational design and automation tools to support water design projects
Build parametric and data-driven models using tools such as Python, Grasshopper, and Dynamo
Support BIM-enabled delivery using platforms such as Revit, Civil 3D, and Navisworks
Contribute to developing tools and workflows to enable optioneering, design optimisation, and rapid scenario testing
Identify and articulate the value of digital solutions, including efficiency, cost, and risk reduction
Work with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions
Engage with teams to understand and challenge existing workflows and champion the adoption of automation
Support implementation, testing, documentation, and training for new tools and workflows
Undergraduate or higher Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience and qualifications
Demonstrated experience in computational design or parametric modelling using tools such as Python, Grasshopper, or Dynamo.
A clear understanding of the wider digital developments and associated benefits in the water or construction industry
Experience of digital project delivery
Possess strong communication skills to effectively understand team requirements and influence behaviours, fostering a culture of innovation
Qualifications
Undergraduate or higher Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience and qualifications
Demonstrated experience in computational design or parametric modelling using tools such as Python, Grasshopper, or Dynamo
A clear understanding of the wider digital developments and associated benefits in the water or construction industry
Experience of digital project delivery
