Your role at CHANEL: Lead the design to support all Trade and Promotional activity for F&B UK and Travel Retail, design of internal F&B events, local initiatives, PR events, training events and pop‑ups, lead graphic design across the UK market and support the UK region with capacity overflow of design activity. The successful candidate will support the Visual Design Manager and mentor the Visual Designer in the design and execution of 2D and 3D promotional activity for the UK market, acting as an operational keystone in the execution of all trade, promotional and PR event activity.
Responsibilities
Design 3D concepts for UK Retail and Travel Retail spaces based on global guidelines.
Create design proposals and technical layouts in 2D and 3D for the UK Domestic market, including local and travel retail (SketchUp experience required).
Design in an environmentally responsible way, considering new sustainable initiatives within budget and managing the end‑of‑life cycle of materials.
Work closely with the local design team and wider VM team to ensure successful completion of all projects to a high standard.
Produce visually exceptional campaign collateral within global guidelines.
Maintain relationships with our supplier network.
Ideate design ideas for in‑store experiences and larger pop‑ups using local objectives as a starting point.
Develop floor plans, layouts and 3D visualizations that enhance the visitor experience.
Integrate lighting, sound, materials and digital technologies (interactive displays, projection mapping, AR) to create a multi‑sensor branded experience.
Collaborate with retail teams, event planners and technical experts to ensure seamless integration of experiential design into physical spaces.
Curate narrative‑driven environments that align with brand identity and enhance the consumer journey.
Oversee the fabrication and installation of design elements, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and quality standards.
Prioritise and manage multiple projects, allocating resources effectively and anticipating bottlenecks.
Conduct site visits to ensure design vision is accurately realised, adjusting as needed during build.
Work closely with marketing and brand teams to develop custom‑designed environments that align with campaign objectives and maximise engagement.
Artwork, layouts, approvals and communications across these projects to support the activity.
Collaborate with global teams on graphic event collateral, producing them to high standards.
Support the visual merchandisers and wider design team with day‑to‑day tasks, logistics and storage requirements.
Work fluidly across internal teams, wearing many hats as needed.
Complete other tasks deemed appropriate for the role.
Delegate event‑related tasks to the Visual Designer, including artworking, layouts, prop listing, 3D design and promotional materials, providing clear guidance.
Lead day‑to‑day mentorship of the Visual Designer, giving constructive feedback and fostering growth.
Support the visual designer’s development of creative skills, project ownership and confidence through regular feedback.
Champion collaboration by involving the visual designer in ideation and concept development, maintaining quality control and creative consistency.
Conduct regular one‑to‑ones, performance check‑ins and development planning to align team goals.
Qualifications
At least 3–5 years’ experience in the industry (preferred but not compulsory).
Strong interest in event and retail design; keen to stay curious.
SketchUp knowledge essential; VRAY or similar rendering experience preferred.
Qualification in a design subject desirable.
CSR‑mindset and sustainable thinking in design.
Fluent in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Highly organised and detail‑oriented with ability to work proactively in a dynamic environment.
Team‑player mindset with confidence to work self‑sufficiently.
Able to commute to a London‑based office and work remotely if required.
