2026 Electronics Engineering Apprentice – Graduate Level Design and Manufacture Join Thales UK as an Electronics Engineering Apprentice and contribute to the design, manufacture and testing of cutting‑edge defence and security solutions. As a graduate‑level apprentice you will be supported through a four‑year university programme while working within our Glasgow engineering team.

37 hours per week – Monday to Thursday on site (or from home where suitable); university days are normally a Friday, attended either in person or virtually.

Thales Glasgow designs state‑of‑the‑art optronics solutions for some of the most technically advanced defence and security platforms globally. As an Electronics Engineer you will work as part of a development team and contribute to the technical design and manufacture of naval or vehicle‑based products, building prototypes, testing systems, and supporting the production of crucial optical equipment for the MoD and export customers.
Key responsibilities
Build prototypes and test systems
Design and manufacture cables
Modify or repair products within engineering parameters
Support electronic engineering design activities
Apprentice programme You will study at the University of Strathclyde towards a BEng Hons in Engineering: Design and Manufacture. While studying, you will spend one day per week focusing on university modules and four days in the business applying your learning to real‑life engineering projects. Upon completion, you will transition to a permanent engineering role at Thales Glasgow.
Requirements
4 Highers (BBBB) including Maths
Live and work in Scotland for the duration of the programme
Must possess permanent right to work in the UK and be willing to undergo BPSS and SC security clearance

Recruitment process:
Assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will run between February and May 2026. Induction week for all graduates and apprentices takes place from Monday 7 September – Friday 11 September 2026. For further details, contact the Thales Future Talent team.
All roles are subject to security restrictions. Successful candidates must obtain HR level BPSS and SC clearance before starting.
