About

Principal Cable Design Engineer (Energy) Join WSP as a Principal Cable Design Engineer (Energy) and work across the UK and beyond to deliver essential electricity infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for multi‑discipline projects.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contracts, meeting client satisfaction, and managing Health and Safety risks.
Develop and maintain external and internal client relationships.
Coordinate technical management of subcontractors and remote resources.
Identify and mitigate technical risks and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
Participate in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Power).
Extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and testing HV cables for HVAC and HVDC (onshore and offshore) projects.
Knowledge of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, and ability to act as a cable expert.
Experience with third‑party cable activities such as testing, installation and transport.
Participation in technical committees such as CIGRE and IEEE.
Working toward or attained Chartered Engineer status.
Willingness to travel as project needs require.
