The Systems Design Engineer will lead our customers through developing the overall structure and specifications of systems, including subsystems and components. The role supports the team to design, develop and deliver complex systems on-time and on-budget using good systems engineering practices to meet goals. This vacancy offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills within a thriving organization. The job holder will engage in a wide variety of Systems Engineering Design activities covering the entire lifecycle: systems definition, input to estimates and bid activities, requirements apportionment, system architecting, integration, verification & validation, and proactive interaction with engineering and non-engineering functions. Candidates with a strong understanding of all aspects of Systems Engineering relating to lifecycle processes and methodologies should apply. Responsibilities
Convert requirements into conceptual designs and prepare associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations, and technical trade‑off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features. Good understanding of the systems development lifecycle and lifecycle products. System Design and Architecture: develop overall structure and specifications of the system, including subsystems and components. Requirements Analysis: understand and analyze organizational needs, translating them into technical requirements. Integration: ensure that all parts of the system (hardware, software, etc.) work together seamlessly. Risk Management: identify potential technical risks throughout the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies. Technical Documentation: create and maintain technical reports, specifications, and other documentation related to the system's design, development, and performance. Technical Oversight: supervise implementation of the system, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards. Cost Estimating: develop cost estimates for products and ensure they are completed within project budget. Represent System Engineering at formal Design Reviews, focusing on reducing design risks. Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline. Essential Skills
Systems Engineering:
Requirements and Use Case analysis Concept assessment and design trade studies System architecture design and functional modelling Performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis Verification, Validation and Certification Model-based engineering techniques, including MBSE
Desired Skills
Defence Sector experience highly desirable Bid Management experience desirable Experience
Experience delivering Systems Design Engineering activities. Experience working within systems engineering with IVVQ role on left side of V lifecycle. Experience with modifications and configuration management. Project and Programme Experience desirable. Benefits
