What you'll do:
The Kitchen Supervisor oversees daily operations in a high-volume commissary kitchen that includes both large-scale food production and a dedicated packing area. This role ensures efficient workflow, consistent product quality, and full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements across all areas of the facility. The Kitchen Supervisor leads hourly staff, supports production schedules, and acts as a key link between management, production, and packing teams.
The Kitchen Supervisor position will be responsible for the following:
- Arrive and leave on time, and clock in/out accordingly
- Supervise daily food production and packing operations to meet volume, quality, and timeline requirements
- Report shorts, problems, needs, and ideas to sous chefs and upper management
- Coordinate workflow between production and packing areas to ensure smooth handoffs and minimize bottlenecks
- Communicate with driving department effectively, ensure that daily delivery is on the truck and ready to be delivered on time
- Monitor batch cooking, cooling, labeling, and packaging processes for accuracy and consistency
- Ensure recipes, specs, and portion standards are followed precisely
- Daily closing reports
- Dress appropriately every day for work
- Follow break policies in effect at this location
- Assist in food preparation and cooking of food
- Daily inventory of all prepped items, packaging foils and delis following procedures and using proper checklists
- Daily check for proper rotation of finished product following procedures and using proper checklists
- Daily check of proper dating and labeling following procedures and using proper checklists
- Supervise, coach, and support production and packing staff during assigned shifts
- Ensure staff follow PPE requirements and safe work practices
- Address performance issues professionally and escalate concerns when appropriate
- Upkeeping and understanding high standards for both organization of packaging items(foils, deli, etc.) and food quality control to uphold Food Safety Standards
- Packing and organizing daily delivery by flight making sure nothing is missing
- Upkeeping Sanitation and Cleaning standards following procedures and using proper checklists
- Making sure all product stays as cold as possible at all times
- Working with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment and work in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain positive, team-oriented, respectful mentality
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- This position is based out of our Commissary kitchen located in Inglewood
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume production kitchen or commissary
- Experience with large-scale food production, cooling, and packaging processes
- Ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, structured environment
- Maintain an up to date California Food Handlers Card certification
- Must be able to read and write
- Valid driver's license
