Job Introduction Are you looking for a career where your expertise keeps one of the UK’s busiest rail networks connected, secure, and moving every day? We are seeking an IT Network Engineer (Level 1) with experience of operating, maintaining and implementing Fortinet SD‑WAN to join our team based from our Head Office in London Bridge.
This role offers hybrid working with a requirement for 3 days in the office/on‑site. 2025 is the 200th anniversary of the first ever passenger rail journey, so we’re celebrating our proud history and bright future.
What you’ll do You will join a small, dedicated team responsible for keeping Southeast’s mission‑critical network running smoothly across over 200 sites in the South East — including stations, depots, offices, and data centres. Our train operations depend on this network, so reliability and performance are key.
As we transition from a legacy setup to a modern Fortinet SD‑WAN infrastructure, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of our connectivity.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Maintaining and improving Southeast’s network infrastructure to ensure high availability, integrity and optimal performance.
Working closely with network delivery and support partners to maximise uptime and proactively resolve issues.
Leading and supporting IT projects, ensuring network requirements are met, capacity is planned, and services are successfully introduced.
Driving continuous service improvements by applying best practices and innovative solutions to enhance network reliability and security.
The Experience You’ll Need
Experience of operating, maintaining and implementing Fortinet SD‑WAN (essential)
CCNA Enterprise, CCNP (R+S/Wireless) / Security accreditation or equivalent (essential)
Experience working with service providers (essential)
Experience working with suppliers (essential)
NOC experience – with desire to be more hands‑on/project based
