Position Title: Maintenance Technician Reports to: Plant Manager Shift: First (5:00am - 3:30pm) (some flexibility) Location: DuraShield, Urbana Oh Position Summary To ensure the plant & equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets, cost, quality & delivery. This position works within multiple areas and requires a high degree of self-direction. Close working relations with technical & production departments will be essential to ensure production is supported at all times. Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
- Inspect the repairs, replacements, installations, and adjustments of the Press Machines.
- Will ensure the maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the steel
- Welds to repair broken parts, fabricate new pars and assembles
- foundry environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Inspect equipment when required for repair or transportation.
- Ensure safe environment to avoid contamination or workplace safety hazards
- Inspect to confirm correct calibrations of machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation
- Use hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
- Confer with operator and observes, test and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunction
- Disassemble machinery to remove parts and make repair
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear
- Repairs, replaces, adjust and aligns components of machine Involves getting on knees, climbing into and on press, working from ladder up to 13 feet
- Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently pushes and pulls 20-30 pounds of force in moving machinery parts
- Awkward positioning to climb in and on machinery
- Constant use of tools weighing up to 20 pounds
- Test runs repaired machinery
- Fabricate replacement parts
- Repair or replaces electrical wiring
- Weekly lubrication and inspections on machinery
- Clean equipment, order parts and record keeping
- High School Diploma preferred
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of powered tools
- Ability to fabricate and weld
- The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged
- The ability to quickly and repeatedly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions
- The ability to see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
- The ability to quickly make coordinated movements of one hand, a hand together with its arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly
- The ability to understand and organize a problem and then to select a mathematical method or formula to solve the problem
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- The ability to coordinate movements of two or more limbs together
- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs
- Other duties may be required.
