Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: The Holden School, Leigh WN7 4SB

Salary: Up to 30,000.00 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday,

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

At The Holden School, youll play a vital role behind the scenesensuring our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and fit for purpose so our students and staff can thrive.

About the Role

This is a varied, active and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Youll take the lead on day-to-day maintenance, security and grounds work, responding swiftly to issues and coordinating both planned and emergency works. Its a hands-on position that combines practical skill, independence and strong communication with staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keeping the site safe and secure opening and closing buildings, acting as a key holder and responding to emergency call-outs when required
  • Hands-on maintenance carrying out repairs, decorating and general upkeep without contractor support where possible
  • Health & safety responsibilities completing routine checks, fire alarm testing, drills and water hygiene monitoring
  • Systems monitoring overseeing heating, cooling and lighting systems and reporting faults
  • Contractor coordination arranging, supervising and signing off planned and emergency works
  • Seasonal and specialist tasks gritting, spill clean-ups, graffiti removal and keeping grounds tidy
  • Logistics and stock control furniture moves, porterage, equipment management and waste collection
  • Pride in presentation ensuring the school always looks clean, well maintained and welcoming

Safeguarding, Compliance and Professional Practice

  • Follow all policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security and confidentiality
  • Report any concerns promptly to the appropriate senior staff member
  • Uphold company values and maintain high standards of professional conduct
  • Participate in training, performance reviews and ongoing professional development
  • Carry out duties efficiently, effectively and economically at all times

Who we are looking:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Proven experience maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standard
  • Strong practical, DIY or handyman skills
  • Previous caretaking, maintenance or grounds experience (school or similar setting desirable)
  • A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approach
  • Pride in your work and a commitment to excellence
