We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to take a lead role in shaping the next generation of our global e-commerce experience. You’ll be key in our migration to BigCommerce’s Catalyst framework and responsible for front‑end performance, design implementation, and the integration of content and merchandising tools.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to create elegant, performant, and maintainable front‑end solutions for our luxury skincare brand.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and optimisation of a headless front end (Stencil to Catalyst on BigCommerce) establishing best practices for maintainable and high-performance front‑end code.
Collaborate with Design and Content teams to deliver beautiful, on‑brand key page and theme updates.
Collaborate with UX, design, and marketing teams to reduce friction in key customer journeys – product discovery, checkout, and loyalty engagement.
Integrate future CMS and DAM with Catalyst.
Partner with the backend team to ensure API and data layer integrations are efficient and secure.
Drive continuous improvement in site performance, SEO, and accessibility.
Establish code standards, reusable components, and performance‑focused design patterns.
Implement A/B testing, merchandising, and analytics tools that improve customer experience and business insight.
Guide junior or vendor developers, ensuring alignment with architectural direction and delivery timelines.
Requirements
7+ years in modern front‑end development with expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript.
Experience working with headless or composable architectures (BigCommerce, Shopify Hydrogen, etc.).
Strong understanding of web performance optimisation, responsive design principles, and accessibility best practices.
Familiarity with GraphQL, REST APIs, and content integration via CMS/DAM.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills; able to work effectively in a distributed team.
Familiarity with observability tools (NewRelic, Datadog) or performance monitoring.
Exposure to design systems and component‑driven development.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, and agile delivery.
Nice to Have
Expertise in headless CMS integrations.
Strong portfolio in e‑commerce or digital brand experience.
Understanding of SEO, site performance metrics, and observability tools (NewRelic, Datadog).
Exposure to A/B testing, analytics (GA4), and experimentation frameworks.
