Mission Description & Job Summary Lead a team of design engineers on modules of a project, managing design from initial concept through to manufacturing. Provide design solutions that comply with company, airframe, regulatory and customer requirements.
Scope of Responsibilities
Assist in new product design development and PLM management.
Lead design effort for packages of work or modules and manage tasks and deliverables.
Maintain engineering quality and integrity of work within modules or project.
Verify modules (2D, 3D, EBoMs) against internal standards and ensure technical accuracy before release.
Design and detail modelling of component suites to meet customer, regulatory and OEM requirements.
Monitor cost and weight targets.
Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers; manage data transfer.
Organise and participate in design reviews; ensure follow‑up actions.
Select and apply appropriate materials and processes aligned with standards.
Integrate modules into the overall product.
Manage design changes for manufacturing, quality, and certification.
Contribute to best‑practice guidelines and lessons learned.
Generate or revise specifications.
Coach and mentor junior design engineers.
Work toward achieving design signatory status.
Control daily attendance, holidays, and absence management.
Assist in recruitment of team members.
Qualifications & Experience • Minimum degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering (or equivalent HNC/HND).
• Extensive experience in mechanical systems design, concept development, and detailing; highly proficient in CATIA V5 (or similar 3D CAD) and PLM systems.
• Ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple modules.
• Understanding of tolerances, manufacturing processes (sheet metal, plastics vacuum forming, CNC machining) and OEM installation requirements.
• Ability to read mechanical design drawings and specifications.
• Experience with project management tools.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
