About
Overview Join TTP plc’s Life Science team to design and develop a diverse range of instruments and consumables across diagnostics and drug discovery. We focus on automating chemistry, biology, and cell therapy manufacturing to accelerate medicine development.
Responsibilities As a mechanical design engineer you will:
Lead concept development and detailed design of electromechanical instruments using CAD.
Apply mechanical and electromechanical requirements to complex projects, performing tolerance analysis and ensuring manufacturability.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers throughout the product development cycle.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities to meet client timelines.
Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes, contributing to rapid‑prototyping and validation.
Qualifications We are looking for an experienced engineer with:
High proficiency in 3‑D CAD (SolidWorks, OnShape preferred).
Knowledge of assembly jigs, test equipment, and manufacturing techniques.
Experience with ideation methods such as mind‑mapping, functional analysis, and morphological analysis.
Ability to present ideas via sketches, animations, photorealistic renderings, and rapid prototyping.
Strong tolerance analysis skills for parts and assemblies.
Experience sourcing off‑the‑shelf and custom parts, building relationships with suppliers.
Excellent time‑management and multitasking abilities.
Hands‑on skills in building, testing, and troubleshooting.
Experience contributing to dFMEA/pFMEA documents (advantage).
Ability to design plastic injection‑moulded parts (advantage).
