Project Design Engineer
The Project Design Engineer is responsible for supporting upcoming and live projects for CRC Evans through using 3D and 2D CAD for the improvement and design of existing and new equipment, production and maintenance of technical documentation such as reports or manuals, and providing general day‑to‑day engineering support. This role is varied and can involve assisting with project planning, addressing equipment requirements, supporting equipment breakdowns, and using 3D/2D CAD to produce or update equipment designs through to layouts. Major Responsibilities
Project Design
Assist in the design of new equipment and the development of existing equipment by modelling components and/or complex assemblies using SolidWorks or AutoCAD software, ensuring all project specifications and engineering standards are met. Modify and update existing designs to accommodate project changes and requirements. Project Documentation and Support
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including reports, manuals, and specifications. Prepare and maintain spares packages for CRC equipment. Collaborate with the project and the wider engineering teams such as the compliance or electrical departments to ensure all design‑related documentation is accurate and delivered on time. Equipment Information and Specifications
Provide detailed specifications for equipment, including power requirements, utility requirements, and dimensions. Work with the project teams, procurement teams, and external vendors to confirm equipment compatibility with project needs. Technical Problem‑Solving
Support the resolution of project‑related technical challenges using general engineering principles. Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure that all designs and documentation adhere to safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Conduct and participate in equipment design reviews. Education Required
Engineering based Degree or equivalent. HNC/HND 2:2 or above. Work Experience Required
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Practical experience working with electrical and mechanical machines. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material properties & limitations. Working knowledge of 3D CAD (Modelling, Assembly, Drawings) preferably SolidWorks. Skills & Knowledge Required
Able to work independently and on own initiative. Good communication skills, able to work with clients and colleagues at all levels and to generate clear and accurate reports detailing actions taken and recommended future actions. An ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own and others’ time efficiently. An understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems is desirable. Seniority Level
