Role Overview As a WordPress Developer at Digito Byte, you’ll be responsible for building, customizing, and maintaining fast, secure, and SEO-optimised WordPress websites. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, marketers, and project managers to turn ideas into polished, production-ready websites.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys
owning projects end-to-end
and understands that WordPress is more than just installing themes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop custom WordPress websites using
clean, maintainable code
Convert Figma / Adobe XD designs into pixel-perfect WordPress themes
Customize and extend WordPress themes & plugins
Build custom post types, fields, and templates
Ensure websites are
fast, secure, responsive, and SEO-friendly
Optimize performance (Core Web Vitals, page speed, caching)
Maintain and improve existing WordPress websites
Troubleshoot issues related to plugins, themes, and hosting
Work closely with designers and SEO teams to implement best practices
Follow WordPress coding standards and security best practices
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with
WordPress (themes & plugins)
Proficiency in
PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
Experience with
custom theme development
(not just page builders)
Solid understanding of WordPress hooks, actions, and filters
Experience with
ACF, CPTs, and custom templates
Knowledge of
SEO fundamentals
and performance optimisation
Familiarity with Git/version control
Experience working with hosting platforms (cPanel, VPS, managed WP hosting)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Nice to Have (Bonus Skills)
Experience with
WooCommerce
Knowledge of
REST API / Headless WordPress
Familiarity with
Elementor, Gutenberg, or custom blocks
Basic understanding of UI/UX principles
Experience working with UK or international clients
