About the Role As a Junior Design Engineer , you’ll join the Estimating and Design team and play a key role in developing piling solutions for tender and live projects. You’ll work closely with estimators, commercial teams and operations, supporting both work-winning activity and project delivery.
This is a varied role that will give you exposure to design development, site conditions, client interaction and project support. It’s a great opportunity for a graduate or postgraduate looking to build a strong foundation in geotechnical and piling design, with hands‑on experience and clear routes for development.
Key Requirements
Review architectural and engineering drawings to identify piling requirements
Support tender and contract designs for a range of piling solutions
Interpret ground investigation data and develop ground models
Assist with geotechnical design including bearing piles and retaining wall systems
Prepare design calculations, reports and CAD drawings with support from senior engineers
Liaise with internal teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable and commercially viable
Attend site visits to assess conditions and support scheme delivery
Support operations teams during construction with technical input
Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety requirements
Experience required
Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng or MSc)
Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and foundation design
Ability to interpret technical drawings and site investigation reports
Good numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
Desirable skills
Exposure to piling or ground engineering projects
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar Parametric software)
Awareness of CDM Regulations and Eurocode design principles
Previous site experience or placements within construction or civil engineering
