The Role As a
Technical Business Analyst , you’ll play a key role within our Technology Services team, helping us deliver change that makes a real difference across United Utilities.
You’ll work closely with project teams, technical specialists and business stakeholders to understand needs, shape solutions and ensure that change is delivered effectively, efficiently and with clear business value.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working at the intersection of technology and business.
What You’ll Be Doing
Embedding our Health, Safety and Wellbeing framework into everything you do
Building a deep understanding of the business areas you support to ensure solutions are fit for purpose
Developing strong working relationships with project teams and stakeholders
Selecting and applying the right analysis techniques for each situation
Managing the full requirements lifecycle from discovery through to implementation, and embed into business as usual
Working with the NIS Compliance Manager to shape and prioritise compliance requirements
Support annual CAF (Cyber Assessment Framework) submission process
Analysis, evaluation and impact assessment of new regulatory requirements
Producing clear, high‑quality documentation such as:
Process maps
Impact assessments
Gap analyses
Business models
Options appraisals & feasibility studies
Functional and non‑functional specifications
Assessing financial, cultural, technological and organisational impacts of change
Supporting project planning and progress reporting using recognised project management techniques
What We’re Looking For
Relevant experience in business analysis or a related discipline
Working towards (or willing to work towards) a recognised qualification such as BCS, IIBA or ISEB
Strong understanding of business processes and the requirements lifecycle
Experience applying a range of business analysis techniques
Ability to work across multiple business areas and functions
Confident facilitator, able to lead workshops with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to evaluate and articulate the wider impacts of change
Working knowledge of project management principles (APM Intro desirable)
