Nailsworth, Stroud
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities of a Design Engineer:
Undertake design work on aviation-related engineering contracts, analysing specifications and producing accurate technical drawings
Design and detail aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated equipment
Modify, update, and improve existing designs
Prepare 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor
Generate engineering proposals, tender documentation, BOMs, and costings
Liaise with production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure designs are fit for manufacture
Support project management from concept through to delivery
Assist with testing, QA, and commissioning of equipment
Supervise shop floor personnel where required
Key Skills of a Design Engineer:
Minimum HNC in Mechanical & Production Engineering or BEng / MEng in Mechanical Engineering
Proven experience in a design engineering role within an engineering environment
Strong knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, and GD&T
Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software (AutoCAD & Inventor)
Experience with data management software (Autodesk Vault)
Understanding of fluid dynamics, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Competent with Microsoft Office
Ability to work to short deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Team-oriented with a proactive approach
