Woodlands Animal Hospital is a fast-paced non-corporate small companion veterinary hospital located in Oldsmar, FL. Our philosophy is simple: provide good, progressive medicine with compassionate care. We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and dedicated *Veterinary Technician* to join our team.
Veterinary Technician responsibilities include assisting the Veterinarian with surgeries and procedures, coordinating animal care, and monitoring animal recovery. You will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients. *Responsibilities *
* Assist the Doctor with appointments
* Conduct technician appointments under the the guidance of the Doctor
* Perform tasks such as radiography, IV catheter placement, intubation, and drawing blood
* Perform dental cleanings, dental x-rays, dental charting, and assist the Doctor with dental extractions
* Prepare animals for surgical procedures
* Assist the Doctor with surgical procedures
* Monitor animals after surgery and prepare go-home instructions
* Administer medications and provide at-home dosage instructions for clients
* Keep accurate and timely patient records
*Qualifications*
* Completion of a Veterinary Technician program from an accredited school or equivalent work experience as a Veterinary Technician
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 5+ years experience as a Veterinary Technician
* Knowledge of pharmacology - including drug dose calculations, radiography, phlebotomy, cytology, urinalysis, laboratory procedures
* Ability to obtain blood samples, insert IVs, intubate, induce and monitor anesthesia
* Knowledge of animal care and handling
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
* Patience and a love for animals
* CVT (Preferred)
* CPR Certification a plus!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
