Digital Evidence Management and Visual Labs 

The Role 

The Manager of Software Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of the team, driving best practices in software development, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for mentoring engineers. 

This role will be leading two product engineering teams. Our Digital Evidence Management (DEMs) team is building a shared service for all of Versaterm's public safety software to store digital evidence and to centrally manage retention, access and chain of custody rules. Additionally, there will be stand alone application for agencies without other Versaterm products. Our DEMS stack is currently approaching our first release and is a React front end and Python backend. Our Visual Labs team owns our Body Worn Camera (BWC), Dash Cam and Interview Room Camera solutions. We have an android application for our video capture written in Kotlin with a Python/Flask backend. Visual Labs will likely be the first application to leverage and integrate with the DEMs platform.

This position requires security clearances due to the nature of our work with public safety agencies. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and must successfully obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance from the Government of Canada. Additionally, candidates must comply with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and pass a comprehensive, fingerprint-based background check. Please note that specific customer contracts may impose additional security verification requirements. Obtaining and maintaining all required security clearances is a condition of employment.
