About
About Us: LabsCubed is a cutting-edge startup specializing in the development and manufacturing of automated tensile testing equipment for rubber and plastics manufacturers. We are at the forefront of innovation, working to transform quality control processes in the industry.
Position Overview: We need a Computer Vision Engineer to work on the CV systems in our testing equipment. This is hands-on product development – you'll be building and maintaining real features that customers use. Beyond the core computer vision responsibilities, this role offers opportunities to explore broader AI applications. For example, we're exploring multimodal approaches incorporating sensor readings from loadcells and actuators with the camera feeds. The ideal candidate thrives both in delivering concrete CV solutions and in exploratory research, comfortable wearing multiple hats in a dynamic startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Computer Vision (Primary Focus):
- Develop and implement computer vision algorithms for our testing equipment products
- Maintain and improve existing CV systems and features
- Optimize algorithms for real-time processing and performance
- Ensure accuracy and robustness through rigorous testing and validation
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate CV solutions into our products
Exploratory AI/ML (Secondary):
- Research and prototype multimodal AI applications combining vision, text, and sensor data
- Experiment with emerging ML techniques that could enhance our products
- Evaluate new AI/ML developments for potential applications in our domain
- Design flexible data pipelines for diverse data types
- Document experiments, findings, and recommendations
General:
- Maintain clear documentation of algorithms, methodologies, and results
- Adapt to changing priorities and contribute beyond core expertise as needed
- Participate in hardware/firmware discussions when relevant (support provided)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong foundation in computer vision fundamentals and image processing
- Proficiency in Python and experience with CV/ML libraries
- Understanding of machine learning principles and model optimization
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively
- Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing computer vision applications
- Experience with industrial automation or manufacturing systems
- Background in multimodal data processing (vision + text/time-series)
- Interest in or experience with hardware/firmware integration
- Familiarity with materials testing or quality control processes
What We Offer:
- Opportunity to shape the computer vision strategy for an innovative hardware startup
- Balance of concrete product work and exploratory research
- Collaborative environment with direct impact on product direction
Note: We're technology-agnostic and value adaptability over expertise in specific tools. The AI/ML landscape is rapidly evolving, and we're looking for someone who can navigate this change while delivering practical solutions. If you're excited about developing computer vision systems for real products while having the freedom to explore AI applications in industrial automation, we'd love to hear from you.
