*Primary Responsibility: *
This position is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) efficiently oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy; verify all new verbal, written and electronic prescriptions; counsel patients, clinics, and pharmacy technicians; ensure accuracy of all medications. *REQUIRED - LICENSE IN ILLINOIS. PREFERABLY CALIFORNIA LICENSE.*
*Key Responsibilities:*
· Counsel patients on all new prescriptions and answer any questions courteously and professionally.
· Counsel prescribers about appropriate doses and dosage forms upon request.
· Verify all new prescription orders with ordering prescriber, prior to order being processed.
· Check all finished prescriptions to ensure the correct medication, strength, dosage form, quantity and expiration date to ensure accuracy.
· Verify that compounding procedures are implemented and strictly followed by compounding technicians.
· Verify all medication weights and volumes during compounding process to ensure accuracy and quality of product.
· Encourage technicians and pharmacists to work efficiently as possible.
· Evaluate technicians technique, speed, and efficiency of their compounding process and ensure they are tested as required by 797, 705, and 800.
· Proactively identify any chemicals or supplies that need to be ordered.
· Maintain current state pharmacist licensure and complete required continuing education requirements during entire period of employment.
· Assist with other activities as requested to ensure continuous operational efficiencies throughout the company. Including assisting with training.
· Make efficient use of down time by helping in other areas such as labeling, assisting compounding, etc.
· Assist in managing the maintenance and cleanliness of the pharmacy.
*Working conditions:*
· Work weeks are 5 days, Monday through Friday. Possibly work (2) or more Saturdays a month. PRN, if applicable.
· Scheduled days and times may vary dependent upon the workload and need. Shifts may include daytime to evening shifts.
· 30 minute un-paid lunch is provided for every 6 hours worked and (1) 10 minute paid break, for every 4 hours worked.
· The pharmacist is exposed to chemicals and medications on a daily basis.
· Dress code is casual but professional or scrubs in company approved colors.
· In the instance that an employee becomes pregnant while working in compounding they need to notify their immediate supervisor immediately so any special measures necessary can be taken.
*Employment Requirements:*
· Must possess and maintain a valid state pharmacist license during entire period of employment.
· Solid math aptitude to ensure all calculations are done accurately.
· Punctual, meticulous and reliable.
· Ability to constantly prioritize the work load to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ expectations on product quality and turnaround time.
· Courteous manners with the public.
· Must be available to work Saturdays if the work load falls behind and for scheduled rotation.
· Must pass a drug test upon hiring as well as agree to random drug testing throughout employment.
· Must consent to and pass a pre-employment background check.
· Keen attention to detail to ensure the correct products and amounts are used in each prescription.
· Ability to learn and prepare various compounds accurately and efficiently. Willingness and ability to learn the techniques in other areas of specialization as time permits and need arises.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $59.00 - $65.00 per hour
