Job Description: Physician Assistants (PAs) are academically and clinically educated medical generalist who practice medicine within a formalized relationship with a physician. Regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS), PAs collect and interpret medical information, make appropriate clinical decisions and carry out diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a formalized Physician/PA relationship agreement approved by the CPSS.

Experience

  • Clinical experience working as a PA in a related clinical field, is an asset

Education

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational degree program recognized by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC)
  • Holds one of the following certifications: Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) through PACCC or the Physician Assistant - Certified (PA-C) through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). (May be asked to provide proof of meeting maintenance of certification requirements).

Licenses

  • Membership and Licensure in good standing with the CPSS as a Physician Assistant (Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) for applicants outside of Saskatchewan)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate (ACLS) an asset
  • Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (PALS) an asset
  • Current ATLS Certification (Advanced Trauma Life Support), is an asset
  • Standby may be required.
  • Valid driver's license, where required
  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
  • May provide services to acute and long term care sites as required
