About
We are seeking a certified and experienced Forklift Operator to join our busy distribution center in New York City, New York. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our warehouse, ensuring that inventory is accessible and organized. This role is critical to our logistics operations, supporting both inbound and outbound processes. You will operate various types of forklifts, including reach trucks, pallet jacks, and sit-down forklifts, to load and unload trucks, move pallets, and store goods in designated locations. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is paramount, and adherence to all safety regulations, including proper PPE usage and safe operating procedures, is strictly enforced. We expect all operators to be vigilant in their surroundings and to practice safe lifting and material handling at all times. The ideal candidate will possess a valid forklift operator certification, a strong understanding of warehouse operations, and a proven track record of safe operation. This position requires physical stamina, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will play a vital role in our supply chain, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of our logistics hub. Continuous training on safety protocols and equipment operation will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers.
- Transport goods from receiving to storage areas and from storage to shipping docks.
- Perform pre-operation inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through proper system usage.
- Adhere strictly to all warehouse safety rules and regulations.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Practice safe lifting and material handling techniques.
- Organize warehouse storage areas for optimal efficiency and accessibility.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification (e.g., OSHA certification).
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Reliable and punctual.
