About the Role

Backdrop.com is seeking an Associate Creative Director to lead the creative vision, execution, and growth of our brand. You’ll work directly with the CEO (Acting Creative Director) to shape the company’s creative direction across digital, experiential, and visual storytelling — with a clear path to grow into the Creative Director role.

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on creative execution. You’ll guide a cross-functional design team, develop compelling brand narratives, and ensure every touchpoint reflects our identity with excellence and consistency.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide hands-on creative leadership across design, digital, product, and experiential initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor a growing creative team — fostering collaboration, originality, and accountability.
  • Drive concept development and execution for trade shows, campaigns, product launches, and digital experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Department, Marketing, Product, and Operations to align creative vision with brand and business strategy.
  • Oversee brand consistency across all assets, from web and packaging to motion and environmental design.
  • Leverage AI and emerging tools to streamline ideation, workflow, and creative output.
  • Act as a key voice in strategic planning — ensuring creative direction supports company goals.
  • Maintain a pulse on design, cultural, and technology trends to inform forward-thinking creative strategies.
  • Champion innovation, elevate brand standards, and represent the creative vision in leadership discussions.

What You Bring

  • 7–10 years of professional experience in design or creative roles, including 3+ years in a leadership or senior creative capacity .
  • Deep expertise in digital and visual storytelling across web, brand, and experiential design.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and motion or 3D design tools.
  • Experience developing and enforcing brand guidelines that drive cohesion and excellence.
  • Fluency in UX/UI design principles and an impeccable eye for detail.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to turn strategy into impactful design.
  • Comfortable managing teams across geographies and time zones (Canada & U.S.).
  • A leadership style defined by creativity, clarity, and collaboration.

The Perks

  • Competitive salary: $90,000 – $110,000/year + performance bonuses.
  • Opportunity for advancement: Clear growth path into the Creative Director role.
  • Collaborative culture: Work alongside a passionate, innovative team that values creative freedom and big ideas.
  • Creative autonomy: Lead bold initiatives with support — not micromanagement.
  • In-office energy: A vibrant, hands-on work environment that encourages experimentation and excellence.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Health and wellness coverage, paid time off, and perks that support work-life balance.
