Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer


VTEK Consultants Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to support complex petrochemical projects. The successful candidate will design, produce, and update electrical and instrumentation drawings and documentation while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. This position involves multidisciplinary coordination, support during fabrication and testing, and contributions to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and produce layout and schematic drawings for electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Prepare assembly drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Update existing designs and implement required modifications.
  • Support manufacturing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with CSA, NEC, API, ISA, and related standards.
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams to optimize integration.
  • Use AutoCAD, SmartPlant, SPI (INtools), EPLAN, or equivalent software.


Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Instrumentation.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design, ideally in petrochemical or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SPI/INtools.
  • Strong understanding of industrial power and control systems.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area and intrinsic safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Member (or eligible for membership) of a provincial professional order, depending on the region of practice.
