The Mechanical Contractor Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, leading a skilled team, and driving business performance. This is a hands-on role that combines technical mechanical knowledge with business management responsibilities. The successful candidate will have the entrepreneurial mindset required to manage and grow a mechanical business while ensuring projects are executed with excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily business operations, including project planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Lead, support, and mentor field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Prepare, review, and oversee bids, estimates, and contracts.
- Monitor financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets.
- Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, codes, and industry standards.
- Implement operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Recruit, train, and develop team members.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities to grow the client base and service offerings.
- Post-secondary education in the Mechanical field or Construction Management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Red Seal or Journeyperson certification in a mechanical trade is an asset.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical contracting, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Proven project management ability with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client service skills.
- General financial acumen, with prior responsibility for budgets or P&L preferred.
- Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to thrive in a smaller, growth-focused business.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as required.
