The Role

The Urban/Municipal Hydraulics Engineer will complete hydraulic design projects and provide effective design solutions for multi-disciplinary projects. You will work on design projects that both build on your existing knowledge and expand your engineering experience through mentorship from our senior staff. You will work collaboratively on projects with the municipal department as well as on multi-disciplinary projects with the various other departments at KGS Group. Depending on your personal career path, you will (under the leadership of our senior engineers) focus on design development or take on project management responsibilities. Opportunities will continue to be provided to expand your knowledge and participate in larger municipal infrastructure projects catered to your interests.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience specializing in sanitary sewer and stormwater modelling and urban system hydraulics, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modelling, and design of sewer and open channel collection and conveyance systems, culverts and ditches, retention/detention ponds, pumps/forcemains, and hydraulic structures.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Hydraulic analysis, modelling, and design of sanitary sewer, combined sewer, and stormwater sewer systems
  • Design of hydraulic structures, water conveyance, pump stations/forcemains, and storage systems
  • Hydrologic analyses and development of design storms, including climate change impacts
  • Preparation and review of technical reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Preparation of bid/proposal packages
  • Preparation and delivery of professional presentations
  • Collaborate with the project team and other disciplines within KGS Group
  • Helping to maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Manage projects from the proposal stage through to completion, including establishment of budgets and maintaining client relationships
  • Assist with mentoring and training junior staff
