Type:  Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to independently lead our HR function and support our fast-growing fintech team. This role is ideal for an HR professional who is comfortable owning end-to-end people operations—including payroll, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and performance programs—while advising leadership on HR strategy and best practices.

You will be the go-to HR resource for the company, building scalable processes, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and delivering a high-quality employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary HR business partner to leadership; provide guidance on organizational design, employee relations, performance, and workforce planning.
  • Build and continuously improve HR policies, processes, and employee-facing programs.

Payroll & HRIS Ownership

  • Own bimonthly payroll end-to-end (reconcile compensation changes, ensure compliance, coordinate with Finance).
  • Maintain HR systems (HRIS, ATS, payroll platforms) and ensure accurate and timely data management.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with wage & hour laws (US and Canada).

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for key roles, partnering with hiring managers on strategy, sourcing, and selection.
  • Oversee new hire onboarding, orientations, background checks, and all employment documentation.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, EEOC, FMLA, etc.).
  • Maintain personnel files and documentation per HR and payroll recordkeeping standards.

Benefits, Leave, & Performance

  • Administer benefits, support open enrollment, and coordinate with external providers.
  • Track and manage leave requests (PTO, sick, FMLA) and maintain required documentation.
  • Support performance management processes, manager coaching, and career development frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of HR experience; experience as an HR Generalist, People Ops Lead, or HR Manager strongly preferred.
  • Proven payroll administration experience (required).
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian employment laws a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage HR operations and advise leadership.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or high-growth startup environments is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and full benefits package.
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in our Miami or Toronto office, 2 days remote.
  • Meaningful ownership of the HR function with room to build and scale processes.
  • Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding fintech organization.
  • A collaborative, dynamic work environment in one of the most innovative sectors of finance.
  • Toronto, Ontario, Canada
