About the Role : Working out of our Canadian Headquarters in Montreal, QC, we are looking for our next Litigation Lawyer. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for offering legal support, opinions and litigation advice to our Company.
Responsibilities :
- Drafting of legal documents and procedures for filing with the Courts of Quebec;
- Representing the company in Quebec court for injunctions, actions on accounts, employment matters, and cargo claims, etc.
- Offer strategic litigation advice to the Company in an effort to achieve litigation goals in various jurisdictions.
- Offer legal support to compliance, insurance, HR, and claims departments;
- Issue legal opinions on various matters, including liability and cargo claims;
- Write and edit various contracts and agreements.
- Offer legal support for various employment, transport, liability matters that may arise in our numerous jurisdictions.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Law;
- Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec;
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in litigation;
- Strong background in employment law is required;
- Background in account accord and satisfaction is considered an asset;
- Bilingual (English & French), both oral and written (required), knowledge of Spanish is an asset;
- Very high sense of autonomy, availability, creativity, and ease of communication;
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
- Ability to handle multiple legal matters simultaneously and prioritize appropriately;
- Knowledge of the transportation industry is an asset.
