Electrical Technician – Full Time – Onsite

Industrial Plankton designs and manufactures high-tech algae bioreactors with the goal of improving global food security and reducing greenhouse gases through advances in biotechnology. Our equipment is used worldwide to produce algae — from live feeds in aquaculture hatcheries to innovative bio-fertilizers that increase crop yields. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Electrical Technician who loves technology, wiring, controls, and embedded systems.


This role will report directly to the Production Manager and bring craftsmanship, precision, and a passion for electronics to help us build and deliver innovative, high-quality bioreactor systems. What You’ll Do

Build and Assemble:

● Assemble Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, including PCBs, LCDs, and Single Board Computers

● Wire and build LED lighting systems, electrical enclosures, and related components

● Conduct Electrical/Electronic production tasks that require accuracy, consistency, and care


Support Quality and Safety:

● Guide ETL inspectors during standard inspection visits

● Maintain clean and organized workstations, tools, and production areas

● Follow and promote all health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment


Contribute to Innovation:

● Aid in building and testing custom solutions for customer support

● Support ongoing process improvements and help refi ne electrical assembly documentation

● Provide guidance and mentorship to coop students in electrical assembly techniques

What You’ll Bring:

● Electrical Technology diploma or equivalent hands-on experience

● Experience with AC/DC wiring and electrical prototyping

● Proficient in troubleshooting using tools such as oscilloscopes, power meters, and multimeters

● Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed instructions

● Effective verbal and written communication skills

● Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

● Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

● Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and adapt

● Experience with control systems, distribution panels,s and a familiarity with PCB population, assembly, and wiring would be an asset

● Forklift certification and previous experience in manufacturing environments is preferred
