Job Title: Telecom Engineer (Lead Telecom Designer)
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – at least 3 days in office per week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard 8?hour days (approximately 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Position Summary
The Telecom Engineer (Lead Telecom Designer) is responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing telecommunications and ICT designs for large industrial and technology projects. This position leads the development of network and communications infrastructure concepts, produces design deliverables, and supports estimates and schedules for assigned projects. The role requires close coordination with internal engineering disciplines, project management, and external client representatives to ensure that telecommunications systems meet technical, cost, schedule, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute independent telecommunications engineering and design work for medium?size projects or major project areas, applying sound judgment in the selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, standards, and procedures.
Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of telecommunications and ICT components, systems, and processes using department design standards, guides, and approved engineering tools.
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for ICT/telecommunications networks, including topology, data center layouts, rack configurations, horizontal distribution, and related infrastructure.
Support the preparation of engineering estimates, design schedules, and staffing plans for assigned project scopes.
Interpret and apply relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliant and robust telecommunications designs.
Coordinate with client representatives to review and obtain approval of telecommunications design aspects, addressing technical questions and design options.
Conduct and/or lead special technical studies on new telecommunications methods, materials, and design techniques, and recommend improvements to existing standards.
Review and approve drawings, calculations, and technical documents prepared by others, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project requirements.
Mentor and provide on?the?job training to junior telecommunications and ICT design personnel, supporting their technical and professional development.
Participate in internal technical training initiatives and knowledge?sharing activities as requested.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant telecommunications/ICT design experience, or 14–17 years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of ICT/telecommunications systems, equipment, design methodologies, and materials used in large industrial and technology facility projects.
Demonstrated experience developing structured ICT/telecommunications network topology, DAS/ERRCS concepts, data center distribution (MDA/HDA/EDA), rack layouts, and horizontal cabling architectures.
Understanding of technical and cost trade?offs involved in selecting telecommunications design features and technologies.
Proficiency with industry?standard design and coordination tools such as CAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office applications (experience with these tools is highly desirable).
Familiarity with ERRCS/DAS, physical security, and related systems and how they integrate with ICT/telecommunications infrastructure is preferred.
RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification is preferred and considered a strong differentiator.
Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly, both verbally and in writing, to engineering peers, management, and client stakeholders.
Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, geographically distributed project environment, managing priorities and deadlines across multiple assignments.
