About
*Summary:*
The Process Engineer is responsible for the scientific development of process functions, starting from the introduction of materials into the injection molding machine. This includes optimizing settings, procedures, testing, and other factors to ensure stable processes and consistent product quality.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities:*
* Process Development: Develop, implement, and optimize injection molding and extrusion processes, ensuring that raw materials are properly introduced into the machines and all operational parameters are effectively set.
* Scientific Molding Techniques: Apply scientific molding methods to improve the consistency, efficiency, and quality of the production processes.
* Process Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine-tune production processes to improve cycle times, reduce waste, and enhance overall process efficiency. Includes some process automation programming and troubleshooting.
* Quality Control: Work with the quality team to establish and maintain process controls, ensuring the final products meet all relevant quality standards.
* Testing and Analysis: Conduct process testing, gather data, and analyze results to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for production teams, assisting with troubleshooting issues related to the molding and/or extrusion processes.
* Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for process setups, changes, and improvements. Ensure all processes and procedures are well-documented and compliant with company policies, procedures, and standards.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, maintenance, and quality control, to ensure smooth production flow and resolve any process-related challenges.
* Training: Train and mentor production staff on proper operating procedures, best practices, and process improvements.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Required Skills/Abilities:*
* Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organization.
* Proficient in Microsoft software package.
* Proficient with AutoCAD.
* High-energy individual who is goal-oriented and results-driven.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
* Proven self-starter: takes the initiative to identify and drive change.
* Ability to plan time, manage deadlines, and multi-task.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Ability to use measurement equipment to include calipers, micrometers, etc.
* Knowledge of processing materials through various types (makes) of extrusion and injection molding machines
* Understanding of Tool Design & methods for mass production capabilities.
* Strong technical report writing skills
* Strong and analytical skills.
*Education and Experience:*
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
* Five (5+) years' of directly related experience in a plastic manufacturing facility, utilizing injection molding machines and/or extrusion machines.
* Experience with semi-crystalline and amorphous plastics and ability to process materials through various types (makes) of injection molding and extrusion machines.
*Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:*
* Exposure to machine noise.
* Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
* Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
* Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and work boots.
* This role may require walking in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
* Up to 30% domestic travel required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $71,000.00 per year
