About

As a Mechanical Engineering OR Computer Science Student within our Asset Integrity - Continuous Improvement team, you will play a role in driving continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the reliability and safety of our refining operations. This position offers the experience to support optimizing inspection workflows, enhancing mechanical integrity practices, and supporting the adoption of innovative tools and processes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline inspection planning, and contribute to projects that ensure the long-term integrity of critical equipment and infrastructure.

You'll support communication efforts across the Asset Integrity teams and make a tangible impact on operational excellence within our refinery. The team sits onsite at our Saint John Refinery.

Responsibilities:   

Computer Science Student:

  • Contribute to projects focusing on digital solutions that improve reliability and asset integrity processes

  • Work independently while also engaging with cross-functional teams to understand inspection processes and contribute to team goals

  • Support the rollout and configuration of a SharePoint repository for the reliability team and its subsets, ensuring it effectively houses processes, KPIs, and documentation

  • Assist in creating dashboards, automating workflows, and improving data visibility

Mechanical Engineering Student :

  • Opportunity to support projects based on business needs and tailored to the students' discipline and area of interests

  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts and support initiatives that enhance inspection workflows and safety practices

  • Work with reliability, inspection, and operations teams to understand current processes and contribute to improvement goals

  • Exposure to mechanical integrity instructions, inspection planning, and compliance requirements

  • Filter and organize inspection records, identify inconsistencies, and help maintain data integrity within asset management systems

  • Review, scrub, and validate inspection data to ensure accuracy and completeness for reporting and analysis

Your Skills :  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Outgoing and willing to engage with others

  • Eager to seek understanding and ask questions

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using excel

  • Exposure to MS power apps Sharepoint, Power BI and SQL Database knowledge (computer science student)

  • Interest in data engineering and analytics (computer science student)

Your Experience:   

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science program

  • Must have completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education and be returning to school
