Applicants must be able to attend in-office interview if invited.
David W. Wilson Manufacturing Ltd. an experienced General Machinist and/or CNC machine operator for a custom/production machine shop.
Position Description:
  • Duties include the operation of a variety of CNC controlled equipment including vertical machine centers as well as manual power tools.
  • Able operate machine shop power tools including manual equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and execute the final product as required.
  • Verify dimensions of the part machined using precise measuring instruments (micrometer, caliper, bore gauge).
  • Conduct full inspection and deburring of completed parts.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet specification.
  • Set up and operation of 3-axis CNC vertical milling machines.
  • Ability to use power hand tools (drill press, angle grinder, belt sander).
  • Produce precision machined parts to specified tolerances.
  • 1 on - Day shift hours are 6:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday.
  • 1 on - Afternoon shift hours are 4:15 pm - 2:15 am Monday to Thursday with training commencing on day shift (6am - 4:30pm). (When applying please indicate which shift you are applying for).

Qualifications:
  • Machinist Certificate of Qualification and experience with Daewoo, Okuma & Fanuc controls is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in a metal manufacturing/machining environment.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and tool wear (carbide, high-speed steel, boring bar, indexable, tapered shank).
  • Able to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
  • Ability to read dimensions, tolerances, and specifications from supplied drawings in both metric and imperial measurements.
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions and safely operate machines at all times.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to understand and operate numerically controlled machines and to perform precision machining operations.
  • Ability to work closely with fellow team members and also individually as required.
  • Must demonstrate quality and attention to work details along with excellent organizational skills and cleanliness.
  • Shows exceptional people skills with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Has excellent attention to detail along with great physical and mental capacity.

Requirements:
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and be able to complete their own setup and adjustments required to meet drawing requirements is a must.
  • A valid driver's license or transportation is required, as this position is in Cathcart and is not on a bus route. Cathcart is located 10 minutes east of Woodstock and 10 minutes west of Burford.
