About

*We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to join our team! *The PIC is responsible for providing clinical, operational, and regulatory leadership for the infusion pharmacy. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient sterile compounding, medication management, and pharmacy operations in accordance with state and federal laws, USP standards, and payer requirements. The PIC oversees pharmacy personnel, supports clinical teams, and serves as the primary liaison to regulatory agencies, auditors, and internal leadership.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in sterile compounding standards, knowledgeable in infusion therapies, and capable of effectively leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Regulatory Compliance & Oversight*
* Serve as the legally designated Pharmacist-in-Charge per Texas State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
* Ensure full compliance with Texas Pharmacy Board rules, USP /, and all relevant federal and state regulations.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date policies, SOPs, and quality standards for sterile compounding and pharmacy operations.
* Oversee licensing, permits, renewals, and regulatory reporting.
* Lead pharmacy audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
*Sterile Compounding & Clinical Responsibilities*
* Oversee preparation, verification, and release of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) for infusion therapy.
* Ensure staff adherence to aseptic technique and environmental monitoring standards.
* Review and approve medication orders, dosing, compatibility, and clinical appropriateness.
* Serve as a clinical resource for providers, nurses, intake staff, and billing teams regarding infusion therapies and medication protocols.
*Leadership & Team Management*
* Supervise and support pharmacists, technicians, and other pharmacy staff.
* Provide training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
* Foster a culture of patient safety, quality, collaboration, and accountability.
* Support staffing schedules to ensure safe pharmacy coverage.
*Operational Management*
* Oversee daily workflow, including prescription intake, clinical review, production, and dispensing.
* Ensure accurate inventory management, procurement, and control of high-cost and specialty infusion medications.
* Review and optimize pharmacy processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
* Collaborate with intake, billing, scheduling, and nursing teams to support seamless patient care and timely therapy starts.
*Quality Assurance*
* Direct the pharmacy quality assurance and continuous quality improvement (CQI) program.
* Oversee documentation of incidents, deviations, and corrective actions.
* Ensure environmental monitoring, staff competency, media fill testing, and required annual validations.
*Qualifications:*
*Education & Licensure*
* Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required.
* Active, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist license required.
* Completion of sterile compounding training meeting USP requirements.
* CSPT or advanced sterile compounding certification preferred.
*Experience*
* Minimum 3–5 years of sterile compounding or infusion pharmacy experience required.
* Prior experience as a PIC, pharmacy manager, or lead pharmacist required.
* Experience in regulatory audits, quality assurance, and operational leadership.
*Skills & Competencies*
* Deep knowledge of USP compounding standards and TSBP regulations.
* Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
* Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
* Ability to manage high-acuity medications and support clinical personnel.
* Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and sterile compounding documentation.
*Work Environment*
* Sterile compounding cleanroom and pharmacy environment within an infectious disease clinic and infusion suite.
* Regular interaction with pharmacists, technicians, providers, nurses, administrative staff, patients, and insurance companies.
* May require occasional on-call availability for urgent clinical or regulatory matters.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
