*Overview*
Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to lead and mentor our team of thirty (30) CRNAs, fostering a positive and patient-centered culture. The Chief CRNA will play a key role in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine.
This full-time position combines clinical and administrative duties to maintain the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency, offering a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of CRNAs in a dynamic and supportive environment, ensuring the highest standards of care for our pediatric patients.

*Key Responsibilities*
*Leadership & Administration*
* Supervise CRNAs in all administrative requirements, including their appointment to the hospital's Associate Clinical Staff.
* Oversee CRNA recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
* Coordinate interdivisional and intradepartmental activities for staff CRNAs.
* Collaborate with the Director of our Nurse Anesthesia Fellowship Program by interviewing and selecting our Nurse Anesthesia Fellows.
* Mentor and train new CRNAs, conducting biannual reviews to set individual education/training goals.
* Act as the primary point of contact to facilitate effective communication.
* Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
* Implement initiatives to enhance CRNA engagement, job satisfaction, and professional development.
* Address employee concerns, provide support, and advocate for the well-being of the CRNA team.
* Collaborate with Division Chiefs (Cardiac and Perioperative divisions) or designee on staffing and clinical demand.
* Review assigned applications for Credentialing, participate in monthly Credentialing committee meetings.
* Complete Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations for each CRNA annually to attest to their clinical competency.
*Compliance*
* Maintain current credentialing status as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist through the Medical Staff Office of Boston Children’s Hospital.
*Operations*
* Facilitate clinical scheduling for divisional CRNAs in collaboration with divisional chiefs or designees and divisional administrators.
* Monitor planned and unplanned absences and fill gaps accordingly.
* Collaborate with Perioperative and Cardiac Division Chiefs to ensure staffing meets clinical demands.
*Patient Management – Anesthesia*
* Clinical practice will adhere to the Core Privileges granted by the hospital's credentialing committee, available for your review, and Specialty Privileges specific to your division (i.e., Cardiac).
*Qualifications*
*Education*
* Doctorate in Nursing (applicants enrolled in a program or actively applying will be considered).
*Experience*
* Minimum, five (5) years’ experience as a CRNA (required).
* Minimum, five (5) years of management experience overseeing CRNAs (preferred, not required).
*Skills and Abilities*
* Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
* Ability to handle administrative issues and complete responsibilities under pressure.
* Proficiency in managing priorities and workload efficiently.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and manage confidential matters professionally.
* Understanding of policies, procedures, confidentiality, security, and privacy regulations regarding clinical information systems.
*Licenses and Certifications*
* Registered Nurse (Massachusetts) - State Licensing Board (Required upon hire).
* Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - NBCRNA (Required upon hire).
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (Required upon hire).
* Basic Life Support (BLS) - Hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (Required upon hire).
*$272,500 - $317,000 Annual Base Salary*
The posted pay range is CHMC Anesthesia Foundation’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay estimate at the time of posting, depending on the candidate’s level of experience.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes incentives, medical/vision/dental coverage, back-up child-care benefit, paid time off, a 403(b)-retirement plan, an employer-funded retirement plan, a generous professional allowance, and other employee discounts.
