Unit Description: 

Interventional Radiology nurses play a crucial role in the patient experience during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.  

 

IR nurses are responsible for demonstrating critical thinking and time management skills specific to procedural nursing; performing comprehensive patient assessments that, under the direction of IR providers, guide patient care and intervention implementation- in routine and critical clinical circumstances; managing their patient’s hemodynamic and respiratory status; establishing and maintaining IV access; titrating vasoactive intravenous medications; safely administering moderate sedation; accurately documenting in EPIC; utilizing and troubleshooting invasive monitoring devices; providing pre-, intra-, and post procedure support and education; and advocating for their patients. 

Call includes one weekend (Friday evening-Monday morning) and four weekdays (Monday through Thursday) every nine weeks. Set call schedule. Response time is 30 minutes. 

 

  • Greater than two years of experience as an RN is requiredPrevious experience in the administration and monitoring of patients receiving moderate sedation is recommended. Nursing experience in critical care nursing is preferred.
