Job Title and Location Senior Electrical Cable Design Engineer – Crawley (Hybrid)

Role Overview As a Senior Electrical Cable Design Engineer you will mentor and guide others in the design of interconnect and cabling solutions that deliver world‑class performance. You will work with a multi‑disciplinary team of 45 electronics engineers and span the entire product lifecycle from requirements capture, through interconnect architecture design, to verification and delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of interconnect and cabling architectures
Design cable assemblies based on electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, voltage‑drop, EMC and environmental requirements
Lead connector selection and manage evaluation activities
Create cable schematics and drawings
Support integration and testing of cable assemblies
Develop cable specifications, development and verification plans
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Contribute to bid and estimating activities
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant engineering, scientific or numerate degree or equivalent
Experience in cable design evaluating electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, voltage‑drop and environmental requirements
Experience with interconnect design tools (Capital Essentials, Zuken, EPLAN, etc.)
Understanding of design for LVD & EMC compliance
Highly effective communicator in a diverse, professional environment
Self‑motivated with the ability to lead and take initiative
Outstanding team‑working skills
Experience mentoring and coaching others
Security Clearance SC Clearance is required. Current holders are desired; otherwise successful applicants will need to achieve, maintain and renew SC Clearance. For details see the UKSV website.
