Job Description
Fully Remote in USA. We are conducting a private, retained search for a hands?on Information Security Architect. This is a high-impact individual-contributor-turned-leader role that combines deep technical security expertise with strategic influence across the entire engineering and product organization. You will own the security architecture roadmap while staying deeply engaged in threat modeling, design reviews, and occasional hands?on remediation or tooling work. This is a fully remote, direct?hire opportunity with significant upside and excellent benefits. Key Responsibilities Define, communicate, and govern the multi-year security architecture strategy and roadmap Design and implement secure, scalable patterns for real-time communication platforms, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), microservices, and AI?driven speech systems Lead security design reviews, threat modeling, and architecture risk assessments for all major initiatives Drive security modernization efforts including Zero Trust, SASE, secrets management, and data protection (at rest and in transit) Partner with Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Legal to meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and security and privacy requirements Evaluate and select security tools and vendors; lead POCs and integration projects Maintain security architecture artifacts, run tabletop exercises, and present to executives and auditors Remain actively hands?on: build prototypes, write detection logic, respond to critical incidents when needed
Required Experience & Skills
10+ years in information security with heavy emphasis on secure architecture and engineering 5+ years owning security architecture in real-time communication, telecom, or regulated SaaS environments Deep expertise in cloud security (AWS/Azure), container security, API security, and modern identity systems Proven experience designing for compliance-heavy industries (HIPAA, SOC 2, FCC Title IV a strong plus) Strong background in threat modeling (STRIDE, MITRE ATT&CK), secure SDLC, and security automation Exceptional communication skills able to influence engineers and executives alike Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience
Strongly Preferred
Relevant certifications: CISSP, CCSP, CSSLP, SABSA, or equivalent Prior success in fully remote environments
