Your Opportunity at SECUREThe Dispatch Supervisor oversees daily transportation operations, including fleet maintenance coordination, while actively supporting dispatch functions. This role provides frontline leadership to drivers, ensures safe and efficient scheduling of services, and maintains strong customer service and safety standards.
Work EnvironmentThe Dispatch Supervisor role is a full-time, Monday to Friday position and includes after-hours on-call availability to support operational needs as they arise. This is an 18-month fixed-term contract and is not eligible for benefits.
A Day in The LifeOperations & Dispatch Coordination
- Coordinate and manage daily dispatch operations for internal and external service requests.
- Schedule work orders and optimize service routes to support efficient driver and equipment utilization.
- Ensure drivers are prepared with required documentation, inventory, and site-specific information.
- Manage ongoing driver site access, onboarding, and vehicle pass requirements for various locations.
- Understand, communicate, and ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements, as well as DOT and TDG regulations.
- Monitor dispatch activity and proactively resolve driver or operational issues as they arise.
- Provide after-hours operational support as required.
Fleet & Asset Management
- Coordinate yard and shop activities to support maintenance needs, operational inventory, and consumable inventory.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely truck maintenance and minimize downtime.
- Monitor fleet availability, fuel usage, and maintenance costs.
- Support driver compliance and training related to ELD, IVMS, IMEC, and dispatch systems.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead daily transportation operations in alignment with SECURE's values.
- Set clear expectations and provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to support team development.
- Manage schedules, approve timesheets, and support employee onboarding and training.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
- Serve as a people leader by managing operator performance and developing high-performing teams aligned with SECURE's values and expectations.
- Conduct employee progressions and performance reviews.
- Implement, train, and reinforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through coaching, training, and leadership oversight.
- Grade 12 diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- A valid Class 5 driver's license
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a transportation-related role.
- Previous hands-on dispatch experience in transportation, waste, or oil & gas environments.
- Knowledge of TDG regulations and Provincial/Federal DOT requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide employees effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company-specific applications.
