About the Position
Duties are to maintain all equipment to required standards and provide support for preventive and failure based maintenance as required by the plant needs. The successful candidate must be willing to take after hours trouble calls and respond to the facility as needed. This is an hourly unionized position which involves shift work, some weekend work and call outs after hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings, blue print, schematics to determine work procedures
- Install, align, dismantle machinery and equipment
- Operate hoisting & lifting devices to position equipment/parts in order to repair the equipment
- Inspect & examine machinery/equipment to detect and investigate malfunctions
- Install, troubleshoot & maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and power transmission systems
- Adjust machinery, repair or replace defective parts
- Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work/PM's
- Operate hand tools, grinders, welding machines to fabricate or fix defective parts
- All other duties required including helping the Electrical crews as needed
- Repairing, Preventative Maintenance & Monitoring of equipment – proficiency level of 5
- Setup, Troubleshooting of equipment/tool selection – proficiency level of 4
- Coordination of workload, testing of equipment & Time Management – proficiency of 3
- Mechanics & Machinery – advanced level 3
- Building, Construction & Mathematics – Intermediate level 2
- Manufacturing, Processing, Production, Training/Mentoring – Basic Level 1
- Manufacturing, Processing, Production, Machinery & Equipment Operations- Basic Level 1
- Stress Tolerance, Independence, Leadership, Collaboration.(High Importance of 4)
- Adaptability, Analytical thinking and Attention to detail (High Importance Level of 4)
- Active learning, Innovativeness & Creativity ( Importance Level 3)
- The candidate must have a Journeyman Millwright Ticket/ Red Seal with at least two (2+) years of experience as a journeyman electrician
- The candidate must have a strong knowledge of all applicable OHSA standards, GMP's, HACCP and other applicable food and feed safety standards
- The candidate must have regular prompt attendance
- Have the ability to climb stairs, lift 55 pounds, sit and stand for long periods
- Able to work in confined spaces, work with heights, bending and kneeling
- The candidate must be able to work in a plant environment in a variety of environmental conditions including inside and outside, hot and cold temperatures and dusty environments
- Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation
- Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
- All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada.
