Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a qualified Mining System Planner to join our Mining team, based out of Leroy, SK. The Mining System Planner will work with the other IPT Mining Systems team members and the BHP Ops Maintenance Mining Systems team. The mining system is made up of a borer machine, extendable belt system, vent-power-train, and friction monorail system; deployed independently and using existing and new Jansen mining infrastructure. The MS Planner will focus on the scheduling and planning of the mining system deployment activities: lowering, storage, assembly, launch, and commissioning.
The MS Planner will work closely with BHP Ops Maintenance MS team and support the creation of work instructions. The MS Planner will utilize the information from work instructions to develop a detailed L5 schedule, which is to be updated as the plan evolves. Once execution of work starts, the MS Planner will update work instructions with lessons learned; track and report on progress; and update future deployment activity durations based on actuals and lessons learned. The MS Planner will ensure that the L5 schedule can roll up into L4 and L3 durations and will work with the IPT JS1 scheduler and BHP Mine Planning team to ensure appropriate durations are being carried in the Jansen schedules and mine plan.
After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $ Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.

* Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance. This will be a camp position on a 8 days on 6 days off rotation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create and update work instructions for mining system assembly work
- Create, update, and manage L5 schedule of mining system activities, including durations and resource loading
- Review daily reports during execution and actualize durations
- Roll up the L5 into L4 and L3 schedules for inputting into the BHP Integrated Mine Plan and JS1 schedules
- Review documentation in SPF
- Report progress weekly and monthly
- Host lesson learned sessions
- Spend time during deployment activities underground and in the field
- Complete time studies as required
- Participate in field leadership
- Participate in company and site required training
- Participate in the site risk and control program
- Attend Managing Operational Performance meetings
- Operate day-to-day ensuring that activities are prioritized in line with broader objectives
- Manage time effectively and adhere to deadlines
- A recognized bachelor's degree in Mining, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; or Journeyperson Electrician or Mechanic; or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience within underground mining, equipment manufacturing, or related industries
- Familiarity with Miner Borers, Continuous Miners and flexible/extendable conveyor systems, mine infrastructure (such as power, ventilation and bulk materials handling) considered an asset
- Strong MS Project or P6 skills for scheduling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including functional managers and discipline leads on the project, clients, outside vendors and contractors
- High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes.
- Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment utilizing agile methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts
- Demonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills including root cause analysis training
- Ability to foster an inclusive environment for their team while grounding to the Jansen core values
- Ability to communicate effectively across various stakeholder groups
