We are looking for a Full Time Purchasing Agent to join our team. WDDC is a growing, dynamic company that has been distributing products to Veterinarians across Western Canada since 1983.
This role provides support to the Purchasing Team, who purchase products through multiple suppliers while managing stock levels at our two warehouse locations in Edmonton and Winnipeg. This position is based on-site and works closely with warehouse operations and internal teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support purchasing operations by coordinating day-to-day procurement activities across multiple suppliers
- Manage product purchasing for the Edmonton and Winnipeg warehouse locations to ensure appropriate stock levels
- Analyze inventory data and perform demand forecasting using seasonal trends, sales data, and internal systems
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier, product, and pricing information within internal purchasing systems
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve purchasing, product availability, and pricing issues
- Respond to member and customer inquiries in a timely, professional, and consistent manner
- Maintain organized purchasing documentation, including vendor records, product details, pricing, and images
- Assist with cross-functional initiatives, including marketing programs and product promotions, as required
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency
Qualifications:
- 5–7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or a related role is required
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external suppliers
- Strong organizational and data entry skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with inventory or ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of veterinary and pharmaceutical products is considered an asset
- Solid understanding of business fundamentals, including supply chain, finance, and marketing
