Join our team as a Shipping Clerk in Des Moines, Iowa! We are seeking a reliable and organized individual to manage our outbound shipping operations. In this role, you will be responsible for processing orders, preparing documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring the accuracy of all shipments. A strong emphasis on workplace safety , including the correct use of PPE , is crucial for success in this position. If you have experience in shipping and a good understanding of warehouse logistics , this is a great opportunity for you.
Responsibilities:
- Process outgoing shipments, accurately preparing all necessary paperwork (e.g., bills of lading, shipping labels).
- Verify that products match order details before they are dispatched.
- Liaise with shipping carriers to arrange for timely pickups and resolve any delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking information.
- Ensure all shipments meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections of packages to confirm proper labeling and packaging.
- Operate shipping related equipment and systems efficiently.
- Maintain a tidy and safe work area within the shipping department.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate PPE .
- Provide support for other warehouse functions as needed, which may include some manual lifting .
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation, and common carrier practices.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Capacity for effective communication and problem-solving.
- Ability to perform occasional physical tasks, including lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and using required PPE .
- Reliability and punctuality are key requirements.
